Termius made synced connections normal, and it was right to. Vandle keeps the idea and changes one thing: you decide where the state lives, and the secrets in it are encrypted before they ever leave your machine.
Credit where it is due
Termius is the most polished cross-platform SSH client of the last decade, and its synced hosts and snippets changed what people expect a terminal app to do.
What changes
Four things you get that you did not have.
- Your state lives in a database you point at, and the endpoint is a parameter you can switch rather than an account you belong to.
- Names and folders stay readable so the sidebar loads instantly, while hosts, users and keys are encrypted and decrypted only in memory.
- File and desktop surfaces sit on the same connection records, so there is no second product to keep in sync.
- No tier between you and a feature you have already installed.
